BHUBANESWAR: State Bank of India has received the Best banker award for credit linking highest number of women SHGs in the State for sixth year in a row. The award for 2008-09 was received by Chief General Manager Bhubaneswar Circle, CH Narasimha Rao from Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the State-level International Women’s Day celebration here on Monday.
The bank has so far credit linked more than a lakh women SHGs. Besides, it has also been organising SHG Leaders’ meets and has sponsored Samanwita Gramya Unnayan Samiti, G Udaygiri, to empower women in the strife-torn Kandhamal district through SHG movement.
Utkal Gramya Bank, Bolangir, which is sponsored by SBI, has also been awarded the best banker among RRBs for credit linking women SHGs under Mission Shakti programme. |
