CUTTACK: All schools in Cuttack district, both government and private, would have to complete their annual examinations by March 15.
The classes in April across all institutions will have to be scheduled to early hours of the day and should not be stretched beyond 11 am. And the vacation would start from May.
The directions have been issued by the district administration in view of heatwave conditions prevailing in the summer months. Mercury has begun soaring in the last few days and taking the forecasts of a harsh summer into consideration, instructions and guidelines have been issued to all departments and organisations to take precautionary measure against heatwave, Collector KC Mohanty said here today.
Reviewing the administrative preparedness to tackle heatwave conditions, Mohanty has instructed officials from sub-collector, CDMO, to the BDOs to enforce the guidelines strictly. Labour would be prohibited from 11 am to 3.30 pm. In case of severe heatwave prevalence, traffic in cities and towns would be controlled. Bus operators have been directed to stock adequate quantities of water and ORS with them while plying on their routes.
While hospitals and medical institutions including the SCB Medical College and Hospital, City Hospital, PHCs, and CHCs have been asked to ready their heat-stroke wards and units, the PHD and RWSS departments were directed to ensure proper drinking water supply to all parts and repair broken and defunct tube wells by March 15.
Complaints on problems of water supply or faults in tube wells should be attended to and addressed within 24 hours, Mohanty said.
Control rooms would be established at all administrative offices including the local bodies like CMC, municipalities, and NACs to monitor the situation on a daily basis. Tehsildars have been ordered to report heat stroke deaths to the Collector within 24 hours of the incident. |
